Young Care Initiative is a Non-Governmental Organisation that is passionate about empowering, developing and advocating for the youths. It is an organisation dedicated to the course of grooming young minds to create positive influence in their spheres.
Meet Our Executive Director
Tokunbo Gboyega
Tokunbo Gboyega is the Executive Director of YOUNGCARE INITIATIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT, a community of change makers focused on building the youth in leadership and empowerment in the spheres of life. He has over 11 years of experience and expertise in elections management, education and research analysis. He is a community organizer and a change maker.
Gboyega is the coordinator of the Not Too Young To Run movement in Oyo State. A movement that led the successful advocacy for the reduction of age limits for running for public office in the Nigerian constitution which its success has recorded the highest number of youth participation in Oyo State Politics. He has been involved in the development of policy documents on electoral reform, international development cooperation, constitution review, public governance and political inclusion. Through his consultancy with YIAGA AFRICA, he has also been involved in strategic policy advice to parliamentary committees, electoral commissions, political parties, civil society organizations and academic institutions. Gboyega was Oyo state Focal Point in one of Nigeria’s largest citizens’ movement on electoral integrity, Watching The Vote. Watching The Vote is a citizen-led election observation initiative promoting electoral integrity using technology and data. He has been involved in Election Observation within and Outside Nigeria.
Over the last 12 years, Gboyega has been involved in the development of many organization and provided support for establishment that are youth-led. He has participated in many Radio and Television interviews on germane issues that focus on youth leadership, public opinion and sustainable development. A graduate of the Nigeria’s premier University of Ibadan with Masters of Science in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies at the Centre for Peace and Conflict studies. He has also developed interest in cultural studies, trends in democracy, youth development and Information and Communication technology. He is a member International Society of Cultural History (ISCH). All-Nigeria United Nations Students and Youth and many more.
He has a publication on the role of Religious institution in Post Conflict reconstruction in Jos Nigeria. This Paper has fetched him an avenue to attend conferences in both South Africa and The United Kingdom. He has an international publication the York University, UK.
