Report on Activities of Young-Care Initiative for Development
Young Care Initiative for Development (YCID) is an organization solely passionate on empowering, developing and advocating for youths. YCID is also dedicated to the course of grooming young minds to create positive influence in their spheres.
Key Achievement Summary
Since establishment, YCID has coordinated the Not Too Young to Run campaign in Oyo State, mentored over 3,000 citizens in election integrity, and organized workshops in health care budget tracking and local government efficiency.
Vision and Mission-Driven Activity
By virtue of the Vision and Mission statement of the organization, YCID has successfully created platforms for youth involvement in development and advocacy.
YCID has also supported government and policy makers to engage citizens in the decisions that affects them.
Not Too Young To Run Advocacy
It is crucial to mention that YCID partnered with other Civil Societies Organisations to push for the Not Too Young to Run bill, which was eventually signed into law and has been implemented through the age reduction granted for political offices.
Inclusion of More Women in Politics
YCID in partnership with SAGE and Kimpact Initiative for Development led a campaign tagged "Inclusion of more Women in Politics".
This campaign was centered on visiting relevant stakeholders which were: Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, the Only female Honorable in the State House of Assembly, Honorable Wunmi Oladeji, and the Party Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) (ably represented by their Public Relations Officers).
The visit was a call to support the SAGE Campaign for greater women representation in political positions.
Budget Accountability and Transparency
YCID has played a significant role in ensuring Government is accountable and transparent on budget report.
This has been possible through the "BudgIT" workshop organized by International Budget Partnership (IBP) in conjunction with Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC).
The essence of the workshop was to ensure budget credibility in primary health care in Oyo state.
Electoral Participation Workshop
YCID successfully collaborated with Kimpact Initiative for Development and the National Assembly Joint Committee on Electoral Matters to organize a two-day legislative interactive session.
The session, centered on "Legislation and Participation of Young People in Elections: The Emerging Trend," had in attendance representatives from the National Assembly, National Democratic Institute, Civil Society Organisations, the Press, and youth leaders.
Training of Local Government Officers
The most recent activity of the Organisation was a workshop for training of Secretaries, Assistant Secretaries, and Chiefs of Staff in all thirty-three (33) Local Government areas in Oyo State.
This workshop was done in partnership with WAB Integrated Services Limited.
